Last Friday evening, I got done working in my tissue engineering lab around 5:20. I was walking to my car in the school parking lot, and due to the late hour and the fact that it was Friday night, the parking lot was looking very sparse. The broken concrete was bathed in a disgusting yellow light from the overhead lights, and the sky had the general appearance of the end of the world. I was walking and said aloud, "God. This is most likely the ugliest moment of my life," to which God replied by blowing sand into my face and eyes. "Gah!"

This picture was taken when Sara Oppelt and I were crowned Mole King and Queen in high school. It is concurrently both the proudest and nerdiest moment of my life.

I'm tired. I just failed a test, but I also went out and bought the 2 Patty Griffin CDs I didn't have yet, so the day evens out, or maybe just comes out pretty well.

Patty Griffin may be overtaking Over the Rhine as my favorite music to listen to, but only time will tell who will come out on top.

I've been to 2 Aggie football games this semester, and those are the only 2 games we lost. People don't want me to go to the Nebraska games this weekend.

I'm doing tissue engineering research with a prof, and we're working on subjecting our tissue engineered vascular grafts to a physiologic pulsatile flow bioreactor. I get to autoclave things and make hydrogels.

Stupidest thing I said this week: "They're like vampires. They only come out during a full moon... which is actually werewolves, not vampires."

CJ thinks I'm a bad blogger, so I'll try to step it up a bit.

"Open your eyes boy, I think we are saved.
Open your eyes boy, we made it through the night."

School is off and running. My hiccups are out of control. Amos Lee's new CD is good, but not great. I just found out my favorite snow cone place is closed. Andrew and I decided that my inner cynic has taken over and is no longer "inner." I'm happy because my least favorite girl just got kicked off America's Next Top Model. The new John Mayer CD is actually good, despite my cynical thoughts about John Mayer. The rolling blackouts were a disappointment; I wanted some more adventure. Introducing new people to Over the Rhine revives my deepest love for Over the Rhine.

"Broken down, we're all so broken down
Bandages on our wings
I know I don't have to tell you
Only broken hearts can sing
I'm hoping for a sign
Pray that I'm anything but fine."

Recently, I attended the 22nd annual Kolache Festival in Caldwell. I felt like I was right in the middle of a Christopher Guest movie (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show). It was wonderful. It was complete with an Original Kolache Festival Band, festival royalty, and adorable dancing children. They also had funnel cake. Jenny, Andrew, and I were in heaven.

"Please slow it down
There’s a secret magic past world
That you only notice when you’re looking back at it
And all I wanna do is turn around"

no reason

Why a picture of CJ? It's just a really good picture. And she also likes and dislikes words.

Words I like: prowess, largess, embarassing, roil, gaudy, subpar, grey, face, chord, outlandish, dominant, peel, tweed, flask, melancholy, namely.

Words I don't like so much: misled, panties, plus, bang, pus, gray, roof, -wise (adding to the end of a word, e.g. schoolwise), putrid, photograph, rendezvous, prudish, definitely, awkward.

<-- (A picture)

A pet peeve:
Minivans with one Jesus-fish per occupant. Big fish for the parents and small fish for the kids.

A hindrance: No washer and dryer in my apartment.

An addiction: Text Twist on Yahoo Games.

A quote:
"Oh what marvelous things... but they are giving me the creeps."

This is probably the best picture taken of me and CJ. It shows a different side of our friendship. The side where we're not married with multiple children... the normal side. Wish CJ well in Virginia.
